This trend has been brewing for a while now and is old news in cities such as Havana, Tokyo and Berlin. But it's taken a recession to get the idea of charging people to eat in your home off the ground in the UK (or could it be the Come Dine with Me effect?).

Interesting. Channel4,apparently, are developing this theme further with a new series to be called Secret Diner in which 30 guests 'pop up' in your house for dinner. They'd be lucky to get a crisp each at my gaff.
